Photo walk with Baidi - 3/17

I’m so excited to be hosting a photo walk with my friend and amazing San Francisco based photographer, Baidi. You should follow him on Instagram because the way he sees San Francisco is so beautiful. We are going to meet at 111 Minna on Sunday, March 17th at 2pm. You don’t need a camera to come, just bring your phone! Can’t wait to show you the photos we take! We took photos of each other the first time we met, so rad to see another photographer’s view of the world.

Photo Walk Through Downtown Petaluma

On Sunday, I embarked on a delightful photo walk through the heart of Petaluma, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast. The quaint charm of downtown Petaluma became my canvas, and every corner seemed to hold a unique story waiting to be captured.

I met up with an incredible group of folks that I met on Instgram called Community Creatives. They meet up quite often for photo walks and other fun creative adventures in Sonoma County. I was stoked to show them around downtown Petaluma and to show them some of my photography tips and tricks.

What made the experience truly special, was the fantastic community of fellow creatives I had the pleasure of meeting. It was like a mini photo enthusiasts' meetup right there in my hometown. We exchanged tips, shared favorite shooting spots, and reveled in the joy of capturing the essence of Petaluma through our lenses.

The camaraderie among photographers and creatives added an extra layer of enjoyment to the whole experience. There's something magical about connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for visual storytelling. We chatted, shared some laughs, and marveled at the diverse perspectives we each brought to our craft.

So, to all my fellow photographers and creatives out there, if you haven't explored the wonders of downtown Petaluma with your camera in hand, I highly recommend it. You might just find, as I did, that this charming city is not only a visual feast but also a place where creativity flourishes, and connections are made one snapshot at a time. Cheers to the next photo walk adventure! 📷✨

Thanks to my wonderful friend, Nicole, for taking the last few pics of me!

Come to our next event, it will be super fun, follow on Instagram for details.

Photos for Midpoint Chiropractic

One of my most favorite kind of photo shoot to do is my Branding Photo Packages! I did a few last year that really stood out to me and one of the branding photoshoots I loved loved loved was a small LGBTQ sports chiropractic office in the Castro neighborhood in San Francisco called Midpoint Sports Chiropractic. Their motto is - Move Better, Feel Better, Live Better and I LOVE IT!

The business is owned by two partners, Kai & Brian, and we did the photoshoot over 2 sessions where they brought in clients/models to show all of the different healing modalities that they offer like - chiropractic, active release techniques, myofacial decompression/cup therapy, the graston technique and rehab exercises.

Kai and Brian worked really hard on making a comprehensive shot list to help keep us stay on track and once we moved 90% of the things out of their main work area (dumbells, skeletons, degrees hanging on the wall, rubber bands and yoga mats) we were ready to go. Thanks to everyone that came to help Kai & Brian, I think their new website looks amazing! Here is a highlight of our shoot and be sure to check out their beautiful new website and work with them if you’re in SF!

If you own a small business or have a profession like a coach, we can do a similar shoot! Can’t wait to work with you on your project!

Congratulations Arlan Hamilton!

This is a big week for someone I deeply admire, Arlan Hamilton! She’s got a second book out this week and is currently on tour. I didn’t talk about it as much as I probably should have, but did you know that I was the photographer for her FIRST book cover? It is true!

I met Arlan for a few minutes at a conference she was speaking at in August 2019 and I took her headshot by a window in a very dark corner of the space before she went on stage. A month later she reached out to me to see if I wanted to do a photo of her for the book cover, hell yes I did!

I flew down to LA with my good friend Miki (who did an incredible job on the lighting) and we had one day to prep and one day with Arlan in the studio. I was so nervous/excited about photographing her because a book cover was a big deal! I actually had a dream about shooting the photo she ended up using the cover, how cool is that?!

I wanted to use this blog post to congratulate Arlan, but also to toot my own horn because this shoot was so much fun and I hope to manifest more of them in the coming years. Arlan is an incredible person doing amazing things, so follow them on all the platforms!

One of my favorite things about this shoot with Arlan was seeing all of the ways the photos I took were used and I threw in some awesome BTS photos because we weren’t taking much video back in the pre-Covid days, ha. Her wife was at the shoot too and after we finished the official portraits, I was able to take some fun ones of them.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Why You Need A Professional Photographer For Your Portrait Session

A portrait is more than just an image; it captures the essence of one’s personality, confidence, and style. It is a representation of oneself and can leave a lasting impression on others. Whether it’s for personal or professional purposes, a great portrait can help you stand out from the crowd and boost your confidence. However, capturing the perfect portrait takes more than just a camera and a smile. In this blog post hosted by Portraits To The People, we’ll explore how a professional portrait session can boost your self-confidence and why you need to secure a professional photographer for your next portrait.

Elevate Your Self-Esteem

Whether it's a professional headshot or a maternity session, getting your portrait taken by a professional photographer can be an empowering experience that enhances your self-confidence. The right photographer knows how to capture your most flattering angles and showcase your best features. During a portrait session, you get the opportunity to showcase your style and let your personality shine through. This leads to an increase in self-esteem and an improved sense of self-worth.

A Professional Can Put You at Ease

It’s common to feel nervous and a little self-conscious before a portrait session. This is where a professional can help you relax and feel at ease. An expert photographer has the experience and skills to put you at ease and guide you on how to pose for the camera. They’ll get to know you and your preferences and tailor the session to best suit you. With the right photographer, you can let go of your insecurities and trust that they will capture your best side.

A Session Can Help You Feel Empowered

A portrait session can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve been hiding from the camera or have insecurities. During the session, the photographer can provide real-time feedback and show you examples of other portraits. This helps you to see how the session is going and gives you a sense of control. In turn, this helps elevate your confidence level, and you’ll leave the session feeling more self-assured and empowered.

Invest In Yourself

Capturing a great portrait is an investment in yourself. It’s a way to showcase your best self, build your confidence, and put your best foot forward in both personal and professional settings. A professional photographer brings experience, skills, and techniques that help you achieve the best results possible. They’ll work with you from start to finish, and provide guidance in choosing the right outfits, posing, and styling.

You'll Have Quality Images To Work With

After your shoot, you'll have several gorgeous and high-quality images that lend themselves well to different projects. • Create a beautiful anniversary card for your loved one. This is a great way to incorporate a great shot from your session into your special day. Just choose the template you like best and include the photo of your choosing.
